Yi Zhu’s award-winning oil painting series, “Industry-Driven Desire”, received the Gold Prize in Best Green Painting at the World Green Sustainable Design Award 2025 Summer Season.
Behind the artwork lies a profound exploration of the dynamics of repulsion, alignment, and attraction—a cross-disciplinary visual interpretation of the desires and tensions among industry, the environment, and individuals. At its core, the series reflects on how these forces can sustain or transform green life within our shared living environments.

Repulsion in the paintings reveals the damage inflicted by industrial processes on nature, yet also the potential for protection that arises from industrial awareness. These opposing forces evolve dynamically, moving from harm toward balance among humans, species, and spaces.
Alignment represents the stage where life and industrial desire reach a fragile consensus. In the visual language of Yi Zhu’s work, alignment is the key turning point—the transition from conflict to collaboration, and the foundation for long-term coexistence.
Attraction captures the moment when industry, humanity, and environment no longer resist one another, but instead gravitate toward deeper interaction. This attraction is born from mutual value: each party provides what the others lack, forming a green living space of interdependence, connection, and sustainability.
Through “Industry-Driven Desire,” Yi Zhu transforms oil painting into a powerful visual discourse on industry and ecology, offering both critique and hope—a call to reimagine how differences can become relationships, how conflict can lead to consensus, and how consensus can blossom into meaningful connection.
